The National Sports Festival tagged Delta 2022 slated to hold in Asaba the Delta State capital from 2nd to 15th November 2022, is now shifted to starts on 28th November to 10th December, 2022.
In reference to a statement signed by Mr Peter Nelson FMYSD/NSFPS/21STNSF/SECRETARIAT/CON/1 and dated 23 September, 2022 and made available to SAI Sports Media announced the postponement of the Festival.
The statement, which was conveyed on the Festival Letterhead, was titled: NOTICE OF POSTPONMENT OF THE 21ST NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL
DELTA 2022, and addressed to all Commissioners of Sports and Directors of Sports
The statement in part read: “I wish to convey the request of Delta state Government to shift the date of the 21st National Sports Festival earlier scheduled to hold from 2nd to 15th November 2022, is now shifted to commence on 28th November to 10th December, 2022.
“The postponement is to give more time to complete some facilities for the festival.
“We regret any inconvenience this might have cause you.
“While thanking you all for your cooperation, Please accept the Sporting regard of the Chairman Main Organizing Committee (MOC).
The Nigeria Youth Investment Fund, NYIF, is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Youth.and Sports development that has since recieved the blessings and endorsement of the federal government.
The initiative was set out, to assist business minded Nigerian youths with soft loans of up to 500,000 naira, to improve their businesses.
Nigeria Sports minister Sunday Dare was and is still a journalist and he understands the plight of the media especially in today’s world.

Thursday September 22, 2022, will go down in history as the birth of a new dawn for Sports journalism in Nigeria as no fewer than sixteen sports journalists spread across the six geo-political regions recieved the sum of 500,000 Naira (five hundred thousand naira) refundable loans, from the National youth investment fund, an initiative of the Nigeria Sports ministry.
This is not the first time that the sports ministry has extended a hand of love to the media. The most recent being, the 400,000 naira given to sixteen journalists as incentives to support their two day trip to Ghana for the all important World Cup Qualifier with the Black Stars
Then, the ministry also took 10 Journalists to the recent Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and gave another 10, 5.5million naira to augment their expenses during the games.
The Sunday Dare administration has continued to standout in performance, achievements, athletes relationship and now media relations, since assuming office in August, 2019 and in the area of youth development, Dare has achieved even more compared to his predecessors
Ademola Lookman, Godwin Saviour, and Adebayo Adeleye
The trio of Ademola Lookman, Godwin Saviour, and Adebayo Adeleye has arrived at Eagles camp in Constantine, Algeria ahead of the friendly international against the Fennecs of Algeria.
The arrival of the players was confirmed on the Twitter handle of the team by the media department thus increased the number of players from 18 to 21 now in camp.
Meanwhile, few others are still been expected in camp to have the full complement of players invited for the friendly games.
Nigeria will take on the 2019 AFCON Champions the Fennecs of Algeria in an international friendly in the city of Constantine.
The Nigeria Football Federation on Sunday announced the appointment of Mr Joeé Santos Peseiro as the new Head Coach of the Senior Men National Team, Super Eagles. The appointment is with immediate effect, subject to the signing of agreed terms between the NFF and Mr Peseiro.
José Vitor dos Santos Peseiro, 62 last month, is a Portuguese who played as a striker in his days and has wide and varied experience coaching top Clubs and National Teams across four different continents, namely Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. An educationist with a degree in physical education/sports sciences, Peseiro has top-level coaching qualifications/training, and has coached at Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, Panathinaikos, Rapid Bucharest, Sporting Braga, Victoria Gumaraes, Al-Hilal, Al-Wahda, Al-Ahly Cairo, Sharjah FC and Real Madrid (assistant coach during the Galacticos era), as well as serving as Head Coach of the Saudi Arabian and Venezuelan National Teams.
Peseiro is expected to lead out the Super Eagles for the first time during the upcoming tour of the United States of America, during which the three –time African champions will slug it out with Mexico and Ecuador ‘A’ Teams in prestige friendlies. The Eagles will tango with the El Tri at the AT & T Stadium in Dallas, State of Texas on Saturday, 28th May before flying to New Jersey to confront Ecuador at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison on Thursday, 2nd June.
The NFF also announced that former Nigeria international forward, Finidi George will now be 1st Assistant to Peseiro, with Salisu Yusuf now to be 2nd Assistant as well as Head Coach of the CHAN and U23 National Teams. Usman Abdallah is 3rd Assistant while Eboboritse Uwejamomere will be the Match Analyst and another former Nigeria international, Ike Shorounmu will be the Goalkeepers’ Trainer.
Super Eagles’ First Assistant Coach, Salisu Yusuf has released a list of 30 players, including Captain Ahmed Musa and forward Moses Simon, ahead of the prestigious international friendly matches against the ‘A’ Men National Teams of Mexico and Ecuador in the United States of America.
The three –time African champions will clash with CONCACAF powerhouse Mexico at the AT & T Stadium in Dallas, State of Texas on Saturday, 28th May, before flying to New Jersey to tackle Ecuador at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison on Thursday, 2nd June.
Yusuf, who is also Head Coach of the CHAN and the U23 teams, has included eight home–based professional players, including goalkeepers Adewale Adeyinka and Ojo Olorunleke, defender Ibrahim Buhari, and forwards Victor Mbaoma and Ishaq Rafiu.
Only 25 players will make the final list for the tour, which is preparatory to next month’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Sierra Leone in Abuja (9th June) and São Tomé & Príncipe in Marrakech, Morocco (13th June).

The Nigeria Women’s Football League has signed a sponsorship deal with Tulcan Energy for the 2022 NWFL Super 6, to be played from May 16 through 22 at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
Speaking at the official signing ceremony, the chairperson of the NWFL, Aisha Falode said the sponsorship is a testament to the good works and consistency the league has demonstrated in the past. She said, “The sponsorship is to create more impactful, more competition & more meaningful development”
Also speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dolapo Akinwale, the representative for Tulcan Energy said the company has supported different businesses and with NWFL and Nigeria football, it took them 6 minutes to seal the deal. “Our strategy intentions are to grow the sports & reason we are sponsoring the Super6. We also planning to sustain this”.
A total of N10 million naira will be shared among the top three teams, with the winners taking home N5 million, while the runners-up and third-placed teams will go away with M3 million and N2 million, respectively.
President and the Eze Ndigbo Nigerian Community Northern Cameroon, His Majesty Kenneth Amaechi Chukwuma has charged the Super Eagles of Nigeria not to lose focus in their pursuit of the most coveted trophy in African football- The African Cup of Nations title
The respected and revered Eze Ndigbo stated this in Garoua Cameroon while fielding questions from journalists who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
” Well, they are very happy because for over forty years of his stay, the national team, the Super Eagles have not been to Garoua Cameroon so, the Nigerian community and the Cameroonians are very happy to have the team here while the supports have been massive”
” We give the team the full support they need with Ogene music and dancers, we’re happy because their performance in the ongoing AFCON has so far been impressive”.
Speaking on the duration of his stay in Garoua Cameroon, the President of the Nigerian Community says he has been in the northern part of Cameroon for over forty years ago.
” I have been in Cameroon for over forty years ago, we have never had any problem with the Cameroonians because we live as brothers and sisters, they love Nigerians and we equally love them as well”.
Reflecting on the challenges that come with being the president of the Nigerian community in northern Cameroon, the eze ndigbo says
” It has not been easy being the President, Nigerian Community in Northern Cameroon but I am trying my best to make sure every Nigerian in this town lives peacefully”.
Stating further, he says:- “We have no problems or any challenges now but if we do, I will meet with the governor of the northern state as he promises to give us his audience and attention”.
” We have a meeting point where all Nigerians gathered every month to attend to our needs and brainstorm on how to foster unity and peace amongst ourselves and the Cameroonians in particular”.
The Eze Ndigbo also send some words of reservation to intending Nigerians, particularly those that support the Super Eagles to not hesitate to come over to Garoua, Cameroon as it is a town with peaceful co-existence amongst the foreigners and indigenes with very tight security apparatus and appreciates the President of Cameroon for providing such a friendly environment.
He concluded by appealing to Nigerians to continue to pray for the team to get to the final of the tournament and return to Nigeria with the trophy.
Nigeria national team interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has disclosed that he will jump at the opportunity of grabbing the vacant position of the head coach of the Super Eagles f the Nigeria Football Federation look towards him.
Reacting to opinions of Nigerians who had expressed their interest in him to handle the team on a permanent basis after their exciting performance and remarkable victories over Egypt and Sudan, ahead of the final Group D game, in a press conference at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium.
Eguavoen said: “Thanks to all of them. I quite appreciate that. The truth is nobody is the best in the world.
“If they give me the job why not. “These questions have come many many times but I’m very happy with the position I occupy with the Nigeria Football Federation and yes. “If they asked me for it, yes maybe, just maybe and when we get to that river we will cross,” he stated.
Super Eagles will lock horns with Guinea-Bissau in their last group D game at 8pm on Wednesday evening at Roumde Adjia stadium Garoua, Cameroon.
National President, Football Fans Club of Nigeria, Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa has declared that they are ready for the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon. Super Eagles will be alpearing in the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. Ambassador Oluwakemi disclosed this at the unveiling of their AFCON jerseys at Owu Sports Headquarters in Ojuelegba, Lagos on Thursday. According to her, “We are ready for AFCON, by weekend we shall set out for Cameroon to support our darling Super Eagles. In appreciating the kitting company, she said “I appreciate you for being there for us, they have been producing our kits for years and they have come up with a fantastic design for AFCON, it’s a beautiful jersey with lots of accolades on social media and every corner of the sports arena, looking at the jersey you don’t need to ask the country you belong to before knowing it’s Nigeria. The club president added that the jersey is one of the dignities of the club and it’s available for registered members only. “Jerseys are available but they need to be registered members of the club because we don’t want to see people we don’t know wearing it because it’s our dignity. Meanwhile, the President of the indigenous Sports kits brand, Barrister Tunji Brown disclosed that the jersey portrayed the true essence of the Super Eagles. In his words, “The design is to portray the name that Super Eagles wear which is exactly what we did and it portrays the true essence of the team, this away jersey portray what they have before. He added that Supers Eagles is going to Cameroon to lift her Fourth AFCON trophy adding that Nigeria goes to all competitions with aim of winning. “Nigeria doesn’t go to competition without the aim of winning, the last time we came third and I’m sure they are going for a win this time around except nothing less from them this time around,” he said.
